Leica S2

Finally have a chance to test the Leica S2. It’s a great camera no doubt but there are several area that I think need to be improved, first is noise level, it’s ok but not fantastic compare with some competitor. Secondly is the handling, it’s quite obvious the design mean to be for big palm, aka big white Caucasian, although it isn’t really the big problem but quite uncomfortable holding long enough. Lastly the price tag, again it is one of the best camera I ever tested but to cost more than good MF digital back like Phase One P40+ is just insane! All image bellow taken with the standard lens 70mm Summarit-S f2.5.

More to follow, a lot of good thing…..

The samples you have here aren’t big enough for me to judge the noise, but the tonality is excellent. Although you don’t say what lens you used.

    • It never meant to be scientific test but rather my user experience. Noise best not shoot more than iso 320, and the lens I used is the standard 70mm Summarit_S f2.5. Excellent lens, even wide open.
